Egypt's oldest and most well-known resort is Hurghada. Hurghada's colourful and peculiar Red Sea coral and fish life can be found offshore, but on land, the formerly sleepy fishing village has grown into a resort community that caters exclusively to tourists.
Shark attacks are not common in Hurghada, according to a local official. But no one can simultaneously foresee the behaviour of the fish, the official stated. But for Egypt and its tourism industry, the timing of the most recent shark attacks could not be worse.
Hurghada's historic district is a bustling commercial area with a variety of stores, eateries, cafes, and hardware stores.
