Known as "The City of Beauty and Enchantment", Ismailia is a city in north-eastern Egypt and the capital of the Ismailia Governorate. Ismailia is situated on the west bank of the Suez Canal. It is considered to be among the most beautiful and charming cities in Egypt with its clean well-organized streets and neighborhoods, its large number of gardens, and a distinguished European style.
On average, 4-star hotels in Ismailia cost 900 LE per night. If you're looking for something really special, 5-star hotels in Ismailia cost around 2,200 LE per night.
By car, Ismailia is only an hour away and there is one road that takes you there (the Cairo-Suez road). If you’re traveling by bus, expect the trip to take an hour and a half; you can catch a bus from the Almaza bus station in Heliopolis.
Ismailia has hot desert weather, with warm humid summers and mild rainy winters. The daytime can be humid in summer, with summer temperatures averaging 35°C, but evenings are usually cooler and breezy. Winters can get cold, with daytime highs down sometimes to 21°C, with occasional rain and sometimes hail.
The best time to visit Ismailia is in spring (March-June) and autumn (September-November), since it's at its busiest in summer when Egyptians come to escape the heat of their cities.
