Suez city, port at the head of the Gulf of Suez and at the southern port of the Suez Canal. Suez is the capital of the Suez governorate Egypt and is a coastal city in north-eastern Egypt, bordered to the north by Ismailia Governorate, to the east by South Sinai Governorate, and to the west by Cairo, with a population of about 750,000. It has three harbours, Adabiya port, Sokhna port and the Suez Port.
The reason for naming the Suez Canal is in relation to the isthmus of Suez that the canal traverses, which begins in the Port Said area, in a coastal spot at the site chosen as the entrance to the canal on the Mediterranean.
The Suez Canal stretches 120 miles from Port Said on the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt southward to the city of Suez. The canal separates the bulk of Egypt from the Sinai Peninsula.
Famous for its harbors, fishing, shipping, and marine services,as it has the best types of fishes ever. Suez is an important economic city that includes many factories, oil fields and chemical industries. It also includes some luxury and high-end resorts in Al-Ain Al-Sokhna, near Cairo.
