Dumat Al Jandal Wind Farm

Dumat Al-Jandal is 400 megawatts of a project to develop wind farms that will become the first source of wind energy at the facility level in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The most important and the largest regional project of its kind, Dumat Al-Jandal established and developed by a group of Renewables (51%) and source (49%) under an award from the Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO). At an estimated cost of $ 500 million, the project will contribute $ 150 million to the country's gross domestic product.

Due to the importance of this project, it is being observed by the Saudi Ministry of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources.

The wind farm forms the second part of the first round of procurement under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), which intends to reduce carbon emissions. It will allow the achievement of the first phase of the NREP's target of renewable energy of 9.5 gigawatts by 2023. This is in line with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, this project will reduce the country dependent on oil and gas.

The construction of the Dumat Al-Jandal wind farm is expected to start in 2019. The project is expected to generate 800 jobs during the construction phase and 150 additional jobs during the operation and maintenance phase.

The project is expected to compensate 994,000 tons of carbon emissions annually with an annual savings of 894,000 barrels of fossil fuel equivalent.
